This past week marked the end of Diwali. Diwali, a Hindu holiday, commemorates the victory of light over darkness, and knowledge over ignorance. Family, friends, and communities across the world get together to celebrate with meals, lights, and music.
And Incapsulate took part as well. From our offices in Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Boston to our headquarters in DC, Incapsulate employees enjoyed great food and fellowship.
But to us, Diwali doesn’t end when the last lantern goes out. At Incapsulate, we try to live the values Diwali represents throughout the year. As a technology firm, we see the promise of modern digital tools to make the world a better place – to help light triumph over dark, knowledge over ignorance.
Technology makes us smarter. The internet puts the knowledge of the entire world (305.5 billion printed pages at last count) at our fingertips, with nothing more than a smartphone and a wireless connection any one of us can know what all of us know. Knowledge is no longer limited to the few. As Elon Musk has said of the Tesla fleet “When one car learns something they all learn it”.
Technology opens doors. Technology like cloud computing have forever changed business and leveled the playing field around the world. Without the need for costly upfront investment, the software as a service paradigm allows new ideas ideas to become reality like never before. And so the next billion dollar business is just as likely to spring up in a rural village as it is in a major city.
Technology connects us. Perhaps most importantly… technology can expose us to different ideas and new worldviews. Via social networks not only can we stay in touch with old friends but we can also build relationships with new ones, and share and improve our ideas at click of a button.
These are just some of the many ways that technology can help create a better world. Used wisely, digital tools provide limitless possibilities.
